Hair salon booking software in Malaysia: the 2026 comparison
Search for salon booking software in Malaysia and the top results have one thing in common: most are published by a local vendor, and that vendor ranks itself first. That is their right, but it means the "comparisons" a Kuala Lumpur or Penang salon owner reads are really sales pages. Add pricing pages that show a different currency to every visitor, WhatsApp as the reminder channel clients actually read, and the LHDN e-Invoice rollout turning tax compliance into a software feature, and a Malaysian hair salon deserves a comparison that was actually checked, line by line, on each vendor's own website.
This one was. Every price and claim below was verified on the vendor's own pages in October 2026, with the currency each page actually displayed to us named every time. And since this article is published on the blog of ViteUneCoupe, a free hair salon booking system that takes no commission, we are not neutral either. So we do what the ranking pages do not: we open the detailed reviews with our own product's honest limits for Malaysia, starting with the fact that our reminders go by email only, in a market where WhatsApp rules, and that our paid plan is billed in euros, not ringgit.
What matters when you choose salon software in Malaysia
Four local realities that imported "best salon software" listicles skip.
WhatsApp is the reminder channel. Malaysian clients confirm, cancel and reschedule on WhatsApp, so how a tool handles WhatsApp reminders separates the local players from the international ones. Read the fine print though: "WhatsApp reminders" can mean fully automatic messages (bookit, TunaiPro), automation reserved for a higher tier (Zyms Pro), or a one-tap button you still have to press for every appointment (BookingLah). Our guide to appointment reminders for Malaysian hair salons compares the channels properly, including where plain email still earns its keep.
The LHDN e-Invoice rollout. Malaysia's MyInvois e-Invoice regime is being phased in by turnover band, and salon software vendors now compete on who handles submission natively. Several local tools advertise LHDN integration; whether it is included or a paid add-on varies and is argued about between rivals, so get it confirmed in writing for your plan. What e-Invoice and SST actually require from a hair salon is its own topic, covered in our guide to SST and e-Invoice for Malaysian hair salons.
Geo-localised pricing pages. International vendors show whatever currency matches the visitor's location. Checking from Europe in October 2026, Fresha and SimplyBook.me showed us euros and Setmore showed US dollars; none of them showed us an RM price grid. The figures in this article are what each page displayed to us, currency named every time: open the pricing page from your salon in Malaysia and get your exact figure in writing before you sign. The local vendors publish plain RM prices, and it is a genuine point in their favour.
Appointment software is not a POS. Half the Malaysian tools in this comparison are full management suites: POS billing, inventory, staff commission, payroll, e-Invoice. The other half, ours included, only manage appointments. Neither is wrong, but comparing a RM488-a-year booking tool against a RM2,099-a-year POS suite on price alone is comparing a chair to a salon fit-out. Decide first which job you are hiring the software for.
How we compared the software
The same questions put to every vendor:
- the subscription price, in the currency the vendor actually showed us, with the date we checked;
- commission taken on bookings, if any;
- reminder channels: WhatsApp, SMS or email, and automatic or manual;
- the contract: monthly, annual, or years prepaid upfront;
- local fit: RM billing, LHDN e-Invoice handling, local support;
- your data: can you export your client list when you leave?
A subscription, a commission per booking, a per-message fee and a multi-year prepayment are four different kinds of cost, and tools mix them freely. We do the full maths, with worked RM examples, in our guide to the real cost of salon software in Malaysia.
All figures below were checked in October 2026 on each vendor's official website. Prices change and pages geo-localise: always confirm before you sign.
Comparison table: what Malaysian hair salons actually pay
Currency note: each row shows the currency that vendor's page displayed to us in October 2026, which for the international tools was not ringgit.

Now the detail, starting with our own product so you know exactly where we stand.
ViteUneCoupe: free and commission-free, with the Malaysia limits stated first
The honest limits before anything else. Reminders go by email only: no WhatsApp and no SMS, on any plan. In Malaysia, where clients live on WhatsApp, that is a real gap, and bookit and TunaiPro handle that channel better. The subscription is billed in euros, not ringgit: the RM equivalent moves with the exchange rate and your card may add a foreign-currency fee. And there is no money management at all: no FPX, no DuitNow, no e-wallets, no POS, no deposits, no inventory, no payroll, and no LHDN e-Invoice submission, because ViteUneCoupe manages appointments, not money. A salon that wants one system for billing, tax and bookings should look at the local suites below.
What you get, permanently free: unlimited online bookings with 0 % commission, a personalised booking page for your hair salon, your service catalogue, staff schedules, a client database and your calendar. It is a real free plan, not a trial: no card details, no countdown, no booking cap. Malaysian +60 numbers work normally in the client database, you write your prices in RM as free text on your booking page, and the interface exists in English and French.
The Standard plan, from 29 € excl. tax per month with no commitment, adds automatic emails (booking confirmation, a reminder before the appointment, a thank-you afterwards) and ICS calendar sync with Apple, Google or Outlook calendars. Anti no-show protection by bank card hold is announced as coming soon in a Standard + Anti No-Show plan at 49 € excl. tax per month; until it ships, reminders and a clear cancellation policy are what cut no-shows in a Malaysian hair salon today.
Who is it for? The solo stylist or small salon that wants 24/7 online booking at zero cost with zero commission and no contract, keeps its payment habits (cash, DuitNow QR, card terminal) exactly as they are, and accepts email rather than WhatsApp reminders.
bookit by LaunchIt: the clearest RM pricing of the local pack
bookit publishes what most of its local rivals do not: a plain RM price grid. Checked on launchit.my's pricing page in October 2026: Basic at RM41 a month or RM488 a year ("from RM1.30/day" is this annual plan), Advance at RM588 a year adding full POS, packages and deposits, and Team at RM688 a year for up to 6 staff with commissions. Add-ons are priced just as plainly (extra branch RM300/year, extra user RM50/year). Seven-day free trial on all features, no card needed, no contract.
The feature set is the full Malaysian suite: automatic WhatsApp confirmations and reminders, a customer booking page, POS checkout, customer CRM, staff commission, and LHDN MyInvois e-invoice submission (or export to Bukku and AutoCount). Two things to read with open eyes. First, LaunchIt publishes its own "best salon software in Malaysia" comparison on which its product naturally shines; treat that page, like this one, as a vendor talking, and verify the claims. Second, rivals contest the depth of each other's e-invoice claims in both directions, so whatever tool you pick, test the MyInvois submission during the trial rather than trusting the brochure.
Who is it for? The salon that wants one affordable Malaysian system for bookings, WhatsApp reminders, POS and e-invoice, with published RM prices and no contract.
TunaiPro: WhatsApp automation at scale, but ask for the full price grid
TunaiPro (tunaipos.com) is a cloud POS built for Malaysian and Singaporean beauty businesses, claiming 7,000+ outlets across both countries. Checked on tunaipos.com in October 2026: the site advertises "from RM2.30/day" with no setup fee, which works out around RM840 a year, but publishes no detailed plan grid; pricing "scales with your outlet size and feature needs" and the next step is a demo. The features are the serious end of the local market: automatic WhatsApp reminders and confirmations, tiered stylist commissions, package and session tracking, customer colour notes, multi-outlet dashboards, and LHDN e-Invoice auto-submission.
The only caution is the one that applies to every demo-priced tool: before the demo charm takes effect, ask in writing for the total first-year cost for your exact headcount and outlet count, the renewal price, and what a full client-data export looks like.
Who is it for? The multi-staff or multi-outlet hair salon that wants deep commission, package and WhatsApp automation and is willing to negotiate its price in a demo.
LABEAU: a polished suite at a suite price
LABEAU (labeaupos.com) is the premium-priced option of the local field. Checked on labeaupos.com in October 2026: Silver at RM174.92 a month on a 12-month plan (RM2,099 a year) for solo operators, Gold at RM274.92 a month for teams and multi-location, Diamond at RM598.98 a month for franchises, all with a 7-day trial and no setup fee. For that money you get the full stack: online booking, WhatsApp reminders, POS and payments, inventory with low-stock alerts, staff KPI and commission automation, and LHDN MyInvois e-invoicing.
At four times bookit's entry price, LABEAU only makes sense if you will actually use the depth: a solo stylist who needs a booking page and reminders would be paying for inventory and KPI dashboards that never get opened. The 12-month commitment also means the trial week is the time to test everything, data export included.
Who is it for? The established salon or small chain that wants one polished system for everything and can commit to a year at a suite price.
Zyms: low monthly equivalent, years paid upfront
Zyms (zyms.my) wins the monthly-equivalent maths and loses the flexibility one. Checked on zyms.my in October 2026: Standard at RM1,500 and Pro at RM2,288 for five years, paid upfront in full, with 1 and 2-year terms also offered; the five-year Standard works out at RM25 a month, Pro at RM38.13. Standard covers appointments, customers, POS, promotions and a customer mini program; Pro adds staff and HR tools, payroll, commissions and, importantly for reminders, the WhatsApp automation.
Read that structure twice. The attractive RM25-a-month figure requires handing over RM1,500 today to a software company you have not yet used for five years of your salon's life, and automatic WhatsApp needs the RM2,288 Pro tier. If the product and the company age well, it is the cheapest full suite here; if either does not, there is no walking away next month.
Who is it for? The cost-driven salon confident enough in its own future, and in Zyms', to prepay years upfront for the lowest monthly equivalent.
BookingLah: the cheapest RM paid plan, with manual WhatsApp
BookingLah (mybookinglah.com) is the minimalist: pure appointment booking for Malaysian small businesses, no POS, no inventory. Checked on mybookinglah.com in October 2026: a free plan at RM0 with 20 bookings a month and 3 services, a Pro plan at RM25 a month with unlimited bookings and services, and a limited lifetime deal at RM199 one-off. Email reminders go out automatically on every plan.
The WhatsApp line deserves the fine-print reading we promised: BookingLah's "one-tap WhatsApp reminders" are manual. The dashboard pre-fills the message and you tap send, for each appointment, yourself. For a salon doing eight appointments a day that is eight taps a day someone must remember; it is honest, useful and cheap, but it is not the automation bookit or TunaiPro sell. The free plan's 20-booking cap is a test drive, not a home: a working chair passes 20 bookings in under a week.
Who is it for? The budget-first solo stylist who wants a simple RM-billed booking page, automatic email reminders, and does not mind tapping out WhatsApp reminders by hand.
KiraPOS, Aoikumo and WESS: ask for the number in writing
Three more Malaysian-market names come up in shortlists, and all three make you ask for the price. KiraPOS (kirapos.my) is genuinely salon-specific, with tiered stylist commissions, package tracking, automated WhatsApp confirmations and reminders and SST-compliant receipts, but we found no public plan grid on its site in October 2026; figures circulating in third-party writeups are not confirmed on its own pages. Aoikumo, headquartered in Petaling Jaya, is a heavier clinic-and-salon platform with automated reminders over WhatsApp, SMS and email, LHDN e-invoicing and ISO 27001 certification; pricing is by demo, and rivals publicly dispute what its e-invoice handling costs, so have the quote itemise it. WESS, a Singapore platform with a Malaysian office in Skudai, Johor, serves established multi-staff salons with POS, packages and commission handling; its own site publishes no prices and sells by demo, so every WESS figure you read second-hand, including any we could find, is unverified.
Quote-only is not a scam, it is a sales model, but it shifts the work to you: get the total first-year cost in RM, the renewal price, the contract length, the e-invoice terms and a test client-data export in an email before you commit.
Fresha: the big international marketplace, with homework to do
Fresha runs the largest international salon marketplace active in Malaysia, listing around 189 hair salons on its Malaysia hair salon pages when we checked in October 2026. That consumer audience is Fresha's real asset: no local tool puts your salon in front of browsing clients the same way.
The homework is the pricing. When we checked fresha.com/pricing in October 2026 the page geo-localised to our location and showed euros: an Independent plan at 14.95 € a month, a Team plan at 9.95 € per team member a month, a 7-day trial, 20 free SMS or WhatsApp messages a month then metered, and online payment processing at 1.29 % + 0.15 €. We could not retrieve an RM grid, so any ringgit figure you read in a listicle is someone's conversion, not Fresha's price. The marketplace new-client fee is murkier still: the pricing page shown to us displayed it as "Free", while multiple third-party writeups dated 2026 describe a 20 % first-booking fee on new marketplace clients. Those cannot both be your terms, so get the current Malaysian conditions in writing before relying on either version. More broadly, a marketplace lists you next to your competitors and owns the client relationship in ways your own booking page does not: we weigh that trade-off in direct bookings versus marketplaces for Malaysian hair salons.
Who is it for? The salon that wants marketplace visibility in front of Fresha's Malaysian audience, has confirmed its RM pricing and new-client fee terms in writing, and will watch its message and payment meters.
Setmore and SimplyBook.me: international, with one Malaysian catch each
Setmore is generalist appointment software with a genuinely free tier: checked on setmore.com's pricing page in October 2026, in US dollars, a free plan for up to 4 users and a Pro plan at US$5 per user per month billed annually. The Malaysian catch is its own documentation: Setmore's support article on SMS regulation and availability lists Malaysia among the countries its SMS reminders cannot be sent to, with clients there receiving email reminders instead. So in Malaysia, Setmore is effectively an email-reminder tool, priced in USD, with no salon-specific features.
SimplyBook.me showed us euros in October 2026: a free plan capped at 50 bookings a month, then Basic from 11.90 € a month billed annually, with SMS and WhatsApp available through prepaid credits at US$8 per 100. It is flexible and configurable, but a Malaysian salon pays in foreign currency, buys message credits on top, and gets a generalist, not a salon system.
We also looked at Timely, the hair-salon specialist from New Zealand: its pricing page rendered no retrievable grid for us in October 2026 and we found no documentation of Malaysia-specific SMS delivery or RM billing, so we cannot verify what a Malaysian salon would actually pay or receive, and we leave it off the recommendation table rather than guess.
Skip these: names that do not operate in Malaysia
A reliable test of an imported listicle is whether it recommends tools you cannot buy. As checked in October 2026: Square Appointments depends on Square's payment infrastructure, and Square's own availability page lists the eight countries it supports, Malaysia not among them. Vagaro, Booksy, GlossGenius, Zolmi and Shortcuts do not offer Malaysia among the markets they serve on their own sites either. If a "best salon software Malaysia" page recommends any of these without addressing availability, it was not written for you.
How to choose: four Malaysian salon situations
You work alone and want zero fixed cost. The real RM0 starting points are ViteUneCoupe's free plan (unlimited bookings, 0 % commission, automatic email reminders, no cap) and BookingLah's free plan (RM-billed but capped at 20 bookings a month). Setmore's free tier works too, in USD with email-only reminders here. Test with real clients before paying anyone.
You want automatic WhatsApp reminders above all. That means a local paid tool: bookit from RM488 a year with published prices and no contract, TunaiPro from about RM2.30 a day by demo, or Zyms Pro if you accept years prepaid. Price the channel honestly: if WhatsApp reminders save you even two no-shows a month on RM68 cuts, as an example, that is RM136 of protected revenue (not profit) against roughly RM41 a month for bookit Basic.
You want one system for bookings, POS, SST and e-Invoice. Shortlist the Malaysian suites: bookit Advance, TunaiPro, LABEAU, KiraPOS, Aoikumo. Make each one demonstrate a live MyInvois submission during the trial, and get e-invoice inclusion itemised in the quote, because this is exactly where vendors contest each other's claims.
You are on Fresha or another marketplace and wondering about the fees. Separate the subscription from the marketplace question. Confirm your actual RM terms and the current new-client fee in writing, then compare what the marketplace sends you against what your own booking page, shared on WhatsApp, Instagram and Google, brings in for free.
Frequently asked questions
How much does hair salon booking software cost per month in Malaysia?
As checked on vendor sites in October 2026: from RM0 (ViteUneCoupe's free plan, BookingLah's free plan) through BookingLah Pro at RM25 and bookit Basic at RM41 a month (RM488 a year), up to LABEAU Silver at RM174.92 a month on a 12-month plan. Zyms works out at RM25 to RM38 a month but is prepaid years upfront. TunaiPro, KiraPOS, Aoikumo and WESS price by demo or quote. International tools billed us-currency pages in EUR or USD, not RM.
Which salon software sends automatic WhatsApp reminders in Malaysia?
Among the tools we verified in October 2026: bookit, TunaiPro, KiraPOS and Aoikumo advertise automatic WhatsApp confirmations and reminders, LABEAU includes WhatsApp reminders, and Zyms reserves WhatsApp automation for its Pro tier. BookingLah's WhatsApp reminders are one-tap manual, not automatic. ViteUneCoupe, Setmore (in Malaysia) and SimplyBook.me's base plans rely on email.
Is there genuinely free salon booking software in Malaysia?
Yes, two different kinds. ViteUneCoupe's free plan has unlimited online bookings, 0 % commission and no trial clock; it earns money only when a salon upgrades to the paid email-reminder plan. BookingLah's free plan is RM-billed and free forever but capped at 20 bookings a month and 3 services. Most local suites (bookit, LABEAU) offer 7-day trials, which are not free plans.
Does salon software in Malaysia handle LHDN e-Invoice?
The Malaysian suites increasingly do: bookit, TunaiPro, LABEAU and Aoikumo all advertise LHDN MyInvois submission or integration, as checked in October 2026. Vendors contest each other's claims about what is included versus paid extra, so have your quote itemise e-invoice handling and test a live submission during the trial. Appointment-only tools like ViteUneCoupe do not submit e-invoices: billing stays in whatever system you invoice from.
Why is Booksy or Square Appointments not on this list?
Because they do not operate in Malaysia. Square's own availability page lists the countries it supports and Malaysia is not one of them, and Booksy, Vagaro, GlossGenius, Zolmi and Shortcuts do not offer Malaysia among their markets on their own sites, as checked in October 2026. Lists that recommend them to Malaysian salons have not checked availability.
Does ViteUneCoupe work for a hair salon in Malaysia?
Yes, with its limits stated upfront: reminders are sent by email only, never WhatsApp or SMS, the subscription is billed in euros so the RM amount moves with the exchange rate, and there is no FPX or DuitNow, no POS and no e-invoice handling. The free plan works normally for Malaysian salons: unlimited online bookings, 0 % commission, a personalised booking page with your prices in RM, client database with +60 numbers, and staff schedules. The paid Standard plan is 29 € excl. tax per month with no commitment.
